Subject: uploading just now
If you have a serial number for ArcGIS I can put that up too although its big. Might be better if the people you got it from post if to you. Is there areason you don't want them to know apart from having to go back to Taz?

not sure how to make an ISO file right off. am uploading a Nero image .NRG file. let me know if that works or not
Don't see why your IT guys wouldn't send you the install discs for ArcGIS cos its an individual install for each licence in my experience.

so after asking on this board and speaking to "IT experts" at a "global solutions" IT company which shall remain
nameless my options were:
1. reinstall windows
2. reinstall windows
so I thought "fuck that" - all that hassle doing a windows install and gettiing drivers and software

I will use my fucking brain and FIX IT MYSELF.
In fact it was trivially easy - I copied
msconfig.exe from a windows xp box to a cd, booted my laptop in safe mode, ran msconfig which allows you to control exactly what starts up during boot and narrowed it down to the offending service.
I know that none of you give a shit but I do and you don't have to reinstall, reinstall, reinstall

Subject: is your PC Rock Solid?
hey if you wanna get your revenge on that PC, go check out
prime95 when you install it select the option for just stress testing and then once you fire it up go into Advanced->Password and enter 9876 then do the torture etst for maximum heat and power. You need to run it for at least a day and if it throws an error then you have some minor hardware glitch. Very handy for anwering those nagging "is my computer hardware responsible or these intermittent crashes?" type questions.
My dual Xeon fell over after 2.5 hours so am trying some better memory. Another dual Xeon machine by Dell ran for two days no probs.
Go on torture your PC - you know you want to
