well its seems swizzcon are at it again, plugging anything into to usb ports is an account upgrade! forums seem to be on about telnetting into router to access "advanced functions" what I did see tho was before I wiped the HD ( when it still had the OS on it ) the router thought it was a pc, now it doesn't even show up.

samba is for networked drives..... the usb would be mounted by the file system ... not network...

anyway from what I understand if I could get the usb working plug the hard drive into it and then share it on an ubuntu and a wankersoft machine with read and wright I would need some sort of file sharing software??

what model is your router?
the file sharing server will be running on the router firmware - you should just be able to browse to it over the network once its plugged in to the router usb port.
You will need to find out what file systems (fat, ntfs, exfat, ext4..) the router supports and format the usb before you plug it in.
Bear in mind routers are not powerful and usb is not fast so it can be slow accessing disks this way,

the router is marked as ADB Broadband V226N1N - it is also called a centoro grande by swisscomm - it all a bit smoke and mirrors as they have 3 or 4 routers with the same badge by different makers.
So if I get the correct file type it should work? when I plug it in I can't even see it not on ubuntu or win10, in the router gui their is no option for the usb ports.
