450 - 650 ms ping time is actually pretty playable must do it again. no reason why the troops in glasgae couldn't dial in for a global game - get on it lads and lasses. NIX: what do I need to buy and what do I need to do to get voice headsets working?

well whenever I'm in need of a new headset I mince off down to my nearest dollar store and pay $5 canadian for a pair of earphones with a boom mike that has some shit on the packet about how they're made for internet phone etc. Sure they fall to bits after a couple of months but hey once in cs you mosey along to the "customize" page and enable voice mod and voice from mike and you can mess around with the the send and receive volumes. Once you've done that you log onto your local cs server and wonder round asking "is this working, can anyone hear me" and if you get the ritual response "yes! now shut the fuck up" then its working. yes I noticed you were doing alright last night although it took you ages to join a game - hows your hunt for adsl going?

get yourself a copy of "half-life protocol" then you don't need to worry about whether the join game page is up and running. it was good playing as the old team again last night pps when you've finished messing around with your customize page, don't forget to copy across your custom decal again or you wont have anything to spray but bullets

My first pair of headphones had a dodgy left connection then the replacement set's mike was fucked.. thinking it might be worth paying a bit more for some quality. Excellent to play though. Shame about the problems with the server map cycle selection - we tried to customise it 3 times and it crashed all 3. Full marks to jmax for the effort and to jules for allowing us to takeover the kitchen! stocksy aka dread seems to be developing a good eye ... nobby aka rex managed to trial the new machine and was chuffed

posted prematurely there.. a bit trigger happy! Who was dark knight and anyone know tom/eric? Very satisfying to have rough and tumbled with y'al. More weegies, map control and working headsets and we'll be sorted.. The hlds server works well and jmax seems to have got a good working knowledge of the settings. And what is 500ms anyway relative to the usual caning.. who cares where it's hosted as long as it is. what worries me are the sad bastards who,on their own (away from bad influences),stay straight in a desperate attempt to hold their stats up..

rex aka nobby - you never anwer questions I asked stocksy if he was there and got no answer I had a moment of intense drug-fueled paranoia in which I convinced myself that I was playing on a local server and not with anyone I knew - the french-speaking messages kicked in at that point and strangely enough that didn't help do you guys not read the messages at the bottom of the screens? you all NEED headsets - no question about it!!! Did you enjoy me abusing you at the beginning? See now wasn't that far more fun than when you kicked my ass at the end? Who was the french guy? Were you playing from glasgae or leeds? Tell me more! I want more banter over the headsets. I got self-conscious and shutup once I'd had a certain amount to smoke Grix is getting one so I think the rest of you need to remember that all it takes for you to drown in banality is for witty, entertaining men to stand silently by

I hope you're not refering to me in that last line - I beleive the quality of my banter speaks for itself - I was clearly far the worse for wear and badly in need of someone to ration my weed and beer consumption Grix is on the case for adsl so I agree: hosting location is not an issue - I was more offering the services of my hardware as I clearly before Jims altruistic and dedicated act of hosting what's an hlds server? can someone tell me how to host an internet game thinking its high time I booked a place (country cottage) for boarding over the holiday period - you mentioned you might be up for new year in freeze-your-balls-off Quebec. Let me know if you're seriouosly thinking about it. Everyone else is of course absolutely more than welcome - let me know SOONish p.s. I just bought a granny car (toyota tercel) which makes it two out of two - I *am* a granny!
