yeah there's a few wee details like the CSTRIKE.EXE that might get overwritten if you copy the cstrike directory across.
I have meddled myself in order to get mansion2 and village and several other maps working on the montreal server and I can tell you that if you want to copy across you need at least the maps, models and sounds directories plus the wads from the cstrike directory. More than that is hard to say.
Rex I like your map packs from banana.com idea. Maybe you could identify which map packs we all need and link to them and then everyone else can just donkey through it.
Having said all this I'm still not convinced that the move to 1.6 is worth all the trouble but I have a couple of questions that might help us decide:
1) when you play multiplayer from CS:CZ is it just 1.6 you're playing?
2) can the new maps from CS:CZ be played in 1.6?
3) can the new maps from CS:CZ be played in 1.5?
if (3) is yes then maybe we should just copy all the new maps to 1.5 - - - or maybe not.
Other factors worth considering before we continue turning our world upside down is that certain people like definitely Stix and possibly Kaiser will need taking by the hand through this process and so the less upgrades the better. Related to this is the possiblity that we will all be upgrading to HL2 by the end of the year cos OMG HAVE YOU PLAYED ALL THE TRAILORS - AAARRRGGGHHH!!! I'm going through trousers like they're going out of fashion. I have waited all my life for this game (talk aboot setting yourself up for a disappointment but I just cannae help it).
Grix, wannae input to this discussion?

have just taken delivery of it and will give my humble opinions in due course, have seen the trailers for HL2 and i too found a general moistness in my undergarments as well. I like the idea of picking things up and using them as weapons, seems most of the items you see you can use, am i missing something though, this seems to be a one person shoot em up (albeit very good) is there a online gaming version or will it simply be the HL2 engine will spawn better versions of cs.

1. CS:CZ is essentially 1.6 but with bots (the deleted scenes are not 1.6 but some alternative linear gameplay with crap bots). CZ maps require way markers for the bots to communicate so it looks tricky to load old cs 1.5 maps to CZ. That said multiplayer CZ with bots is ok and as more humans appear the bots disappear. Set up server and try but we will get bored with maps?
2 & 3. There are 4 new maps with CZ and these can be used with 1.6 and 1.5 (ignore deleted scenes)
I reckon 1.6 is worth persuing as i prefer the interface - it's just a hassle to load maps again (no map pack has rio - might have to make our own). In the meantime we've got 1.5. Alternatively we can all go for call of duty

(no 1 choice) pending the arrival of HL2.
More gaming... bigger turnouts!
CZ is useful when all your mates have done a runner or for those who feel they need practice before going public...
This is my opinion after 4 days ...
