After reviewing the threshold for the Skilled Migration category pick on 09/06, it seems that without an offer of a job it'd be a safer bet to get the temporary working visa and then apply for Skilled Migrant status after two years of employment in NZ ... if not, we're scraping the barrel as at the moment 100 points needed to apply is well out of the reality range and they actually want 165 points - without an NZ job in the bag the maximum points that can be scored is c.155, whereas with an NZ job for two years we'd be on 230+ points ... hmm! So, to answer your question, it'll probably start of as a scouting mission ... but could easily turn into a pre-move visit! My sister is based in Auckland, so we'd land there mid-July and then head down towards Welly after a week or so, but if possible I'll arrange a few interviews for early August at the Unis in the Palmerston/Welly region beforehand.
