can i put a 333Mhz FSB CPU onto a Jetway 266 mobo? i suspect not but i'm hopeful

why dont you just put it in.. if the motherboard starts beeping you know it doesn t work.. and then you can go out and buy a mother board that does work with it thats usually my technique... dont let me near your computer

whats the context? do you already have this CPU for free? If so is it more than 1.25 times as fast as your current processor cos if so it might be worth just underclocking it by 266/333 - it should be very happy and cool if you're thinking of buying then I would not. the mini atx mobo and chip that i just bought for the server is probably a better bet.

my system is nearly maxing it's potential. i'm sure there's more juice in the graphics card (get 52fps for source at 1600x1200) so i want to drive it a bit harder. currently got the athlon xp 2500 which I could just clock up but was thinking of ebaying this and buying the 3000 which also has an fsb of 333 ( and would clock beyong what the x800 pro needs). i was just wondering whether i could squeeze in the athlon 3200 (fsb 400) but i reckon i should just do the 3000, overclock it and call this machine done (til next summer's new system ) - it'll cost a net £60 but i need more pixel power

whats the model number of your mobo? from looking at jetway's site you can clock all their 266 mobos at 333 - maybe you'll need a bios upgrade.
