Subject: groups??
So I can upload media -images - thru the wordpress admin panel, It seems to have to do with groups but I am so confused. I checked out
ec2 help but as the site is working I'm a bit feert to fek it up.
When i check groups I get
[ec2-user@##] ]$ groups ec2-user
ec2-user : ec2-user wheel
[ec2-user@##]$ groups apache
apache : apache
Any help very welcome...........

What are you trying to do? Files on Linux have permissions related to users and groups. As long as the files in the web server dir that you want to serve are readable by Apache then all is well for your website.
Users can be members of multiple groups.
cat /etc/group
cat /etc/passwd

just to let caro upload images to her web site thru the wordpress admin panel ( last time i did it i think i had to move them with filezila and then move them to wordpress ) When I try add them thru the wordpress admin panel I get a " cant create folder ###" error. The help pages say wordpress needs to have permissions to read/wright to the server.

FIRST:
1. Make sure your wordpress admin passwords are STRONG
2. Follow the
Wordpress Hardening guide
Just do your single wordpress directory:
sudo su chown -R apache:apache /vol/html/wp-content
find /vol/html/wp-content -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
find /vol/html/wp_content -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;5.
useradd -G apache ec2-user sudo chmod -R 775 /vol/html/wp-content/file_upload _dir
