very good all free bootable cd here: System Rescue which has - partition manager like Partition Magic - system rescue and backup utilities with CD and DVD writing - virus scanner - ram checker - read write any file system - really delete files completely - physical hardware diagnostics what more could you want or need

beos was nice once, solaris is nice still, and so is macos ... I trust the bsd's are all nice too?
