I notice that NVidia have finally made my lovely GeForce 6800GT obsolete (not) with this years new generation of vga cards. Yes the 7800GTX is faster and better than the 6800GT although its not nearly so much of an improvement over its predecessor as the 6800 was over the 5950. blah blah blah WAKE UP!! The important thing is that you can actually buy this card in the shops TODAY - its in stock and shipping - OMFG!!! and for less money than a ATI 800XT or many of the 6800Ultras and it uses less power than the 6800ultra or the ATI 850XT when gaming and of course its faster than any of them. Also, because it is in shops now, the 6800GT is plumeting in price to levels where sane people might consider buying it Unfortunately the 7800GTX only comes in PCI-express which none of my mobos support so am gonna wait till next year to buy my quad core AMD 64 with 7800GTX with 1gig of DDR3 (not out yet but on its way) SLI is silly though - aint never going there.

wow what a response eh? well I can tell you're all pretty excited and into your bleeding edge tech so with that in mind I knew you'd never forgive me if I didn't tell you about the new HL2 level for hi-spec graphics cards in which the artists go crazy and actually make full use of the hardware "Oh! Oh! We can't wait several weeks for this to be delivered to us free on steam" I hear you cry. Calm! Don't worry you can get a glimpse of HDR now by playing with this pretty pretty things...... I love to watch the sun sinking slowly towards the rippling mirror of the sea from a rich indigo sky and wonder.... how many vertices in this scene? what effective resolution am I viewing this at?

nix, you have to remember that many of us have gone down the unfortunate route of marriage and children. You cant imagine what its like to be taunted by single people with money to burn. Yes, I would love to have the latest ware, both hard and soft, but i am up to my neck in kindy fees and even have to pay money to watch my kids perform in mind-numbing theatrical productions. I realise i only have myself to blame but i could do with a bit more sensitivity from you and your shopping list, OK?

no nix ... hardware reviews are great and every pixel counts it is sobering to hear about having to sacrifice this indulgence at the prospect of future kids tho' - little do they realise what we parents do for them .. an ai kid would do the housework, diy etc and be a lot cheaper but not quite so cute. am now back from a ramble on the continent so up for scraps again ... as and when
