is it a BONA or a LEX? Do you have a motherboard manual for it or preferably a CDRom with the manual in electronic (PDF?) format that you could email me? It seems like woever made this mobo went out of business a while ago as I'm not finding their website. This means that there might not be any recent BIOS upgrades which dose not bode well for our upgrade hopes.

ok further research has shown that the BONA BN780 is a mobo for dual pentiums and therefore not the one you have. Unfortunately, the makers of your mobo appear to have long since past beyond the veil. LEX do not have a website. There is no support. No bios updates. Pending the intervention of some third party then I am provisionally but very formally declaring your mobo to be DECEASED! In light of this grave and somewhat morbid finding, it is my solemn duty to advise you that it appears to be time.... ...for us to go shop shop shopping !! Rex: would you do me the honour of assisting please? I need a link to an online hardware vendor if thats not too much trouble. First thing to do is to check that Dell's prices are comparable to self build prices for a couple of test cases case 1: Pentium 3.2Ghz+ with HT (dirty nasty intel) case 2: AMD64 3400+ socket 754 (mine or susan's system) case 3: AMD64 3500+ socket 939 (best for upgrading in future) case 4: AMD Sempron 3100+ socket 754 (cheapo option) 1 GB of DDR is the minimum we can consider If you're paying for a new system you should probably get a DVD+/- RW as the cost like $80 these days 120+ GB HD (for your MP3 collection and all those DVDs you're in the middle of ripping) 1 source-friendly graphics card - if you're paying for a new system then its probably a waste of money to buy anything less than a Geforce 6800GT (my card) or a ATIX800Pro or above From Dell we're looking at about 1000 plus monitor for a kickass system. Self build would be less but you don't build systems. There again maybe there are companies that build inexpensive systems in the UK?
