the cs debate.

We'd prefer to go with 1.6 if it means more of us can play. Thats the bottom line. The social aspect heavily outweighs any grafix concerns.

It's great to be able to kick a few cans about the streets and get really good rendering but let's get back to the days of Rio and Assault etc with our friends. I promise to make more of an effort as well

yes I totally agree that we should go with whatever everyone can play. A couple of points though: 1) don't think we're gonna get JMAX back whatever we do as his quarrel appaers to be with steam and valve in general. 2) I think you might be all looking back at the past with rose-tinited spectacles. Remember that a lot of the time we could not play RIO or INDIA because people could not be arsed installing the map packs. Also, people would have different versions of the same map from playing on public servers. Finally, before we switch back I would like confirmation from Fix and Dex (the only two people with performance issues so far as I am aware ) that everything is smooth and dandy for them in 1.6 and its not windows XP journalising their hard disk or their antivirus running in the background or some bandwidth issue either at their or my end. Please log onto a public server in north america and play an hour of CS1.6 and let me know how you get on yes? 3) there are no bots in 1.6 so people need to turn up on time and stick around or the game collapses 4) does everyone who has 1.6 also have CS:CZ? that has bots, smart hostages which can be fun and some good maps that we never played to death. I can setup both games to run again. As most of you do not reply to my erquests for information, I'll assume that you all have CS:CZ unless you tell me different (Woody, you're ok - btw did you buy HL2 silver edition online or did you get it in a shop? - if you have silver then you automagically alerady have the entire back catalog of valve games including 1.6 and CS:CZ) I will start preparing the 1.6 server this evening - if you see a game up - come on in BTW just seen what my new IT guy bought from Dell as an ArcView machine - its a fucking gaming monster! Big blue LEDs on the front, 2 gigs of DDR, a 3.2GHz P4 and an ATI 850XT - OMG - think am gonna be "working" late at the office

Is that the Dell XPS job? this one Very droolsome. I have Paula convinced that it will make me a better person...anyway, gotta get the new BB up first, then think about a ridiculously overpowered lappy.... I didn't buy HL2 at all, so I will be at your mercy, nix. I just hope whatever BB solution I end with is up to the job. Does anybody that reads this work for BT, or can I be deeply rude and uncomplimentary about them?

yup thats the one - the desktop version. Same they don't do it with a nice fast cool AMD 64 dual core but hey - you can't have everythnig I guess. made my first contribution to the world of wikis today here Woox: if you don't own anything just now then its all just too easy. You buy HL2 silver edition over steam once you have your BB and you get everything in one go. An hour or two of downloading on your new super fast connection whilst you sit back and go "Paula, look how fast it is! Look! Paula?" and then you'll be all set.
