Subject: question

what is the north american obsession with deliberately treating food in the most crass and vulgar ways imaginable? I was recently served desert in a pyrex measuring jug without even a saucer under it. Presentation really is everything isn't it? It seems as if it doesnt matter how its cooked or what it tastes like no! "16 shrimps for $15" - Oh my god!..... and another thing, is it just me or is anyone else appalled at the notion of ordering chicken by the bucket? oh to be home again - Quebec isn't perfect but it does represent an island of relative sophistication in a continental sty of gourmands!!
