anyone got a good understanding of camera phone ?? I started looking through wright ups but ended up with a sore head - any advise

they are handy when you have forgotten your camera but they are not a substitute for a half decent digital camera. Having said that I have taken some ok pix with my sony ericsson k750i which i believe is free in the uk. it has a 2 megapixel camera and not bad optics (compared to other phones) but its slow - dont ever think of snapping an action pic with it (understatement) basically you need to accept that any camera phone is likely to be a really poor camera so spend your money with that in mind (cheap digital cameras are <$150 here and will beat the pants off any phone)

in fact make that < 100 canadian dollars for a 3.2 MP camera with 3x optical zoom by kodak and there's cheaper too - am starting to think you either buy a profession type camera or you buy something cheap and cheerful and who gives a fuck if it gets dropped on holiday buy your phone because its a good phone not because of the camera is my advice - good cameras are dirt cheap and way better then phone cameras

hello fx. i highly recommend the recent sony eriksson phones - great operating system, very intuitive, solid build - i have the w810i walkman phone - not bad camera but more of a walkman really. plus i have a sony laptop so that means i can plug the memory card right in, v handy. the sony cybershot phone is the k800i - carl zeiss lens - half decent camera, my mate has one and loves it.

yup the sony w810 are really good, and the one with the 4 mb pixel camera, think its the latest one, and the walkman one isnt bad either! and sign up for a contract as 1. You dont have to pay for the phone 2. They will update it for you 3. You will end up spending as much as you do on pay as you go as with a contract, but unlike pay as you you go, you dont have to buy the phone Dex
