Blooming Hamsters by Sarah Kenchington's always been one of my favourites. Hard to find but well worth the effort. Particularly like the chapter where the 'pesky blighter' takes a liking to the authors slippers.....won't spoil the end for you but lets just say it involves buses, cornflakes guitar and a car park....enjoy.
