Does it make any difference which OS I install first? Is it easier to install Linux with XP already installed or vice versa?

- partition with GParted installed on a USB or CD (whichever your computer can boot from). Make a windows partition and leave the rest as empty space - install windows - install linux (I would recommend ubuntu for linux virgins) this will give you a boot manager that automatically sets up a menu giving you the choice of booting linux or windows alternatively install ubuntu from windows using Wubi however I have never used Wubi so ...

you can use the windows install disk to setup your partitions and install windows then once windows is installed, install ubuntu and it will allow you to setup your linux partitions and it will automagically install a boot loader which loads windows and any other OSes you might have on your PC. I currently am running vista 64 and ubuntu 64 off the same disk and ubuntu 32 off a different disk all on the same pc and so long as you do an install of ubuntu last, it will make you a boot loader with everything you need. fool-proof!
