AVG has gone a bit shitty. I use Avira free edition now and it seems ok
ps; what's the story with your laptop? Is there something wrong with it?

I use avira as well, and its fine, if a little irratating with the splash screen that comes up, but have been using it now for 5 years with no complaints and more importantly no virii
