Subject: free access to verbiage for all
So I understand that language evolves over time and that old miserable bastards like me should get with it. However, just making words up or using them when you don't know what they mean - how can that be "cool"?
I work with this consultant sometimes who is always trying to use the latest buzz-words. I think he thinks it makes him sound more professional. For instance, any copy we give him he refers to as "verbiage" which is a derogatory term roughly equivalent to "meaningless drivel". I imagine that his fellow web-monkeys use the term disparagingly to refer to all the crap they get asked to put on the web and that's fine but before you use the term with a client, LOOK IT UP!!
Anyhow, I thought I would start a thread for you to add your own stories about stupid people you know or alternatively to evidence the existence of stupid people - marketers tend to score strongly on this one but I guess that's a little unfair as their profession is the one that is out there for everyone to mock. On the other hand, you'd think their sense of their own professionalism would entail the artful and eloquent use of language.
Anyhow, I'll start us off with one I found today which cracked me up in which the marketer claims that their product
"redefines premiumness"
Your turn!

rofl isn't a word, its and acronym just like LOL (laugh out loud). rofl means rolling on the floor laughing. These are quite useful for texting and have nothing to do with made up words such as premiumness. Also on the subject of made up words, fantasticaliscious just so happens to be the best word in the world so on your points (if any) i completely and fully disagree.
