... and amazingly it all worked! Got my employees network on 192.168.1 and my guest network running on 192.168.0 with my guest gateway being assigned its external (WAN) IP by the employees gateway - all peachy, I can allow guests access to internet *yippee* without them getting access to all our confidential files - *boo*
but all that was way too easy so I'm gonna redo it so that I can allow employees (i.e. me) to access a print server on the guest gateway - might be easy - might not....
Moved offices yesterday and my linux server is garbled but I will implement your HD tip as soon as I reinstall linux one more (please god let it be the last) time

Joined jimmy mac on the UK2 cs servers - poor ping but good excuse for getting whooped - the boys comming along!

yeah but I got the owners of the building to split the patch panel so that I have my own panel in a lockable cupboard

who is on your guest network? - another company?
I take it your gateway acts as a router and separates the traffic from the two networks?
What if someone on the guest network changes their ip to a 192.168.1.* address?

Subject: hmm - good point - I'll try it. Still can`t share with linux and windows...
and if I don`t get it sorted soon I think my boss is gonna *suggest* I use windows which will be crap.
Just reinstalled linux yesterday and I can`t access the HowTos which means I`m completely helpless which is also crap.
The comments in the smb.conf appear to be fibs - I keep following them and nothing works - will post you my smb.conf file. I want a common directory that all my windows users use. I want them all to see each others files but only change or delete their own files. At present I can`t get even a simple public directory to be accessible from windows.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong with my HowTos or is it another reinstall?

do you have a smb.conf I can look at? You have setup windows and linux sharing haven't you? I'm suspecting that the problem is on the windows side? Any ideas?
