...no luck under XP home. I've made my smbpasswd file and added a couple of samba passwords to it and now windows 2000 can create a directory and it is owned by that user - fantastic - I now know how to create shares under samba. HOWEVER, win XP wont play and I keep reading disturbing things on the net saying that you need XP Pro if you wanna see samba shares - this is *very* bad. Have either of you managed to get XP home to see samba?

the win xp home box needs a password set - preferably the same as the linux and samba passwords to make life easy for you win xp home cannot log onto a domain server but can certainly see shares
