Subject: ubuntu one?
anyone use this or any sort of online storage thingie? any advise / tips seems to have lost of tools - most of which are lost on me.......

I use Carbonite online backup because it seems as good as any other but offers unlimited storage for 60/year.
I also use hostedftp.com for sending data to people. The group account comes with 40GB of storage.
I think Carbonite is probably what you're after. If you Google you can find offers on sites that review it.

I know you're being sincere as always mex but I am currently backing up 129GB on Carbonite for the next 3 years for something like $150. On Ubuntu One that would cost me $750+.
All the crappy services (Mozy etc.) offer 4 or 5GB for free as an enticement but who needs that much storage? If you're gonna backup you want at least 100s of GB. I can access all my backed up files on my Android phone or from any web-enabled device and it does incremental backup constantly without me having to worry about it.
It fucking rocks!

(if a backup service can rock)
