Subject: Anyone know what's involved in putting a server on the web?...

...I could probably cut grix's ping by 150ms by hosting the game from Montreal. I've got what is for practical purposes a static IP. There's a wee app which I'll email to various involveds which allows you to start a game given the IP. Not that we're likely to do this tonight but just so I start the ball rolling now. Is a 700mhz with 128RAM enough to host?

can't make it. Staying in University accomo which has 24hour wireless and free loan of laptops but none with any games on them! There is a games cafe on campus but only open till 1am. Oh yeh,I have to work too, unfortuneately.

.... get yourself a server in Mexico and you can host. If grix hosts, he's at a huge advantage over you UK-based losers. If you host then grix loses out. I've been trying to think how I can host while putting a delay on my own connection - I'm looking into connecting via a proxy in Thailand. Its no fun for me you know if I end up kicking all your asses all of the time - just gets boring

p.s. I hope you're miked and headsetted up or you wont get the benefit of hearing me smoke myself into ostixion
