Subject: And it comes in an attractive attache case handy for travelling to implanting parties...
...I am seriously considering writing to these guys and asking if I can have an implant for free with the aim of developing an SDK and maybe some proto-apps for the mainstream gadget/gaming market. There was an intersting article in New Scientist or Sci Am late 2002 which talked about these arrays of flexible electrodes and the fact that the neural activity in the outer cortex seems massively redundant and homogenous - i.e. you don't need to worry exactly where you implant it and you're pretty certain to capture information relating to the movement intents of the entire body. In experiments, rats very quickly learnt to separate thinking about a movement from actally doing it. In other words, it should be relatively trivial to make a counter-strike controller in which you just think about how you want to move and you move in the game whilst sitting still in reality.
