mex and i thought we had a full house last night but you and holly didn't show (because the server was chock full of strangers??) and i didn't show cos i was being an ambulance and mex and jim had technical issues so altogether a bit of a tragicomedy. On another topic, mex jim and I have come to the conclusion that people who want to play cs without cheating are few and far between - we've been wathcing the strangers that come on to the server and they have unlimited weapons, can't be kicked, sometimes look to be using aimbots etc so I think we're gonna start passwording the server by default cos it seems that last night we got pretty much hi-jacked from what mex said and so you might not have been able to get onto the server if you tried due to all the slots being already occupied - is that what happened? If you meant next friday grix, please repost and we'll try again.

i'm happy with a passworded server - what is the surrent stste of anti-cheating?

I've looked at using cheating death and maybe its the way forward but I'm a little concerned that it will prevent shooting through doors etc. Also the only way to really use it is to make running the client mandatory which means outsiders are unlikely to join the server anyway so we may as well just keep it private - or at least that's the impression I've come to just now - I'm open to arguments. Mine is that if not many people use it then its got a good chance of working because people wont bother to hack it but then .... We're using the standard anti-cheating protection but its an arms race that we're always gonna lose. Personally I don't understand why anyone would want to cheat at any sort of game as you're really just playing with yourself then but I guess lots of teenagers play CS and masturbation is their forte I just never really appreciated until recently how common the cheating is though so I guess the way forward is to recruit more members of our own little clan and maybe use WON IDs as the key to letting people play.

. Not quite no sweats! Last Friday me and nix both cancelled other plans because grix and dex said they wanted to play at 11pm gmt. For me this meant having to be at my computer at midnight to start the server then keeping it open for nearly two hours because I didn't know when they were going to join. Maybe I should have just shut it down after 20 minutes no show but if people ask for a game at a particular time I assume they're gonna turn up eventually. If you can't make it, it only takes two minutes to put something on the board or send an ICQ or sms message to say so. If you'd arranged to meet people in the real, non virtual world but couldn't make it you'd contact them and let them know you weren't coming! So whinge over, I can't play Friday or Saturday unless someone in Glasgow has a machine and a connection for me as I will be back there until Sunday but without my laptop. Rex will you be back?
