Subject: geek question

have upgraded a six year old machine so that now it has 200Mb RAM, a K6/2 400 CPU and a quantum fireball 6.5Gig HD. So its just about at the point where it could play HL. Thing is its got a S3 Virge (4Mb) graphics adaptor which doesn't appear to do 3d graphics at all well. Am I wrong or would I be better off swapping the virge for a matrox millenium 2 with 4Mb plus a Matrox M3d (nvidia) gaming card? Maybe its just not meant to be cos I would need a 16 Mb voodoo 3 which I can't get anymore. Opinions? Suggestions?

why do you want a duffer which can play halflife when you already have much higher spec machines to play it on if you really wanted to play it again? Why not make it your icq/skype machine.

1) ok, it doesn't have an AGP port so no chance of buying a new card for it. 2) not my machine, trying to get a non-gamer up and running. OK guys, got any helpful advice?

you can still get hold of PCI cards - for $60 or 25 squid I can pickup a Radeon 7000 with 32MB DDR - lol - poor thing will be totally hobbled by the rest of the PC - not sure I can be that cruel - its like buying a yearling thoroughbred race-horse and condemning it to a life of pulling a cart full of kids along Morecamb Beach. mu ah hahahahaha
