...ripped my ati radeon 9200 out of my work machine and took it home to test last night and it runs CS 1.6 at 1600x1200 pretty damn smooth so am gonna take back my 9600xt and swap it for a 9200 vivo methinks. I know this wont allow me to run HL2 but I figure I'll be in NZ with all my shit in storage again when HL2 comes out so there's no point in upgrading a machine which I wont have access to. When HL2 does come out I've got my eye on one of them there AMD64s or maybe even two plus a GeForce 6800 - I reckon I should be able to pump up the res to at least 640x480 and low def models on HL2

hehe yeah I ended up with a GeForce 5200 by Asus and it appears to kick ass - 128MB DDR, dual head plus tvout - plays CS1.6 at 1600x1200 seamlessly - thing is I looked at tom's hardware and these days the speed of your processor is almost irrelevent so long as your AGP slots can pump out the 1.5 volts required to boot the newer cards (mine don't hence the step down). have got 7 days to take the 5200 back so am gonna see how I feel after a weekend of gaming - may still go and buy new mobo, memory and my dream ATI 9800Pro. you guys have got all the map packs I told you to get yes? Had my knee op this morning and am flying on my drug cocktail - good fun seeing them poke around inside my knee. So I'm off work and looking for other gamers to play with so if there's interest for tomorrow night, I can start whenever you guys are ready - 7pm BST??
