oh man, I have so many ideas: we should recreate the time that I dropped down off the roof, landing silently behind someone and slit their throat in the village - I was thinking we could use the 007 theme music; or when JMAX and I held india against 4 cts - this time to the banging techno theme from the start of Blade; I could go on but I just wanna say that we are gonna have so much fun recreating all my heroic moves in CS - cheers grix

On another topic - am about to invest in the entire series of Babylon 5 on dvd

and am also about to invest in a dvd burner - can anyone recomend one which comes with good software bundle and reads and writes the formats I want without worrying about regions. Your reward will be of course the entire series of babylon 5 on dvd next time i see you

hey rex,
I know nothing about any of this but is there any issue with different regions? I currently have dvds from both the uk and north america and I expect to have NZ ones in the near future and this is a real pain in the ass (that's arse for all my euro chums) when I have to have a different device for each region - I want to be able to copy stuff so all my dvds are in all regions (or none). I have a real fear of buying something that will not allow me to write my uk dvds as US ones and vice-versa.
Help? Advice? Comfort?

Subject: regions no prob
just get a +/- burner as grix says.
the software sorts the regions out (afterdawn guides are the dogs bx).
i should be on icq later this week so any probs we can sort out...

dvds are copywrited which means it's illegal to make copies and if you do you will become a criminal.

hey mex, glad to see you're still alive and I don't have to come and scrape you off the eiger - you know how I worry....
So am thinking of buying a toshiba SDR5272 8x4x12x DVD+/-RW which comes with a nero bundle - 160CAD including tax - also, am confused on the media front - do I want -R disks?
I noticed some drives are dual format which means "you don't have to worry about choosing the right media" - WTF is that? If I buy -R disks can I just ignore that?
What drives do you and Rex have? Should I just order my toshiba and stop worrying aboot it?
the alternative is a NEC 2500A 8x4x12x DVD+/-RW (dual format) but it only comes with Nero burning ROM - is that all I need anyhow? Is NEC a better make - what should I do?
I'm so confused I just feel like

dual format or DVD+/-RW means it writes both -R/RW and +R/RW
dual meaning two or both - geddit?
media refers to the different type of disk -R/RW or +R/RW
its like the VHS and BetaMAX wars
the backslash ("/") meaning either - geddit?
get the one that is the nicest beige color - I have a no brand and it works just sweet.

if you want to play the disc in a stand alone dvd player you need to check the formats that the player accepts, thats the only prob with - and + media, some players will play any, some only one type

ps i agree with grix though on the colour, that is at the end of the day the most important thing to get right
