Yes nix, i understand that heavy-handed irony, in which a speaker emphatically states the flat opposite of the truth, exemplifies a form of irony called sarcasm. But it's still irony fatty.

you got me there clever pants although as I pointed out, the fact that I was ignorant of the joke made me a victim reminiscent of Socratic Irony much in the same way that Alanis, by singing about irony without any understanding of it, unintentionally made herself an unwitting victim. Please feel free to continue the debate as this is a much needed counterpoint I feel to the horrible sports chatter pervading this board at the moment. p.s. did you get your definitions from the Wikipedia?
