Subject: My last ever DVD post (if you believe that ....)

O K so I believe I am now reaching adept mode on this subject. Please don't bother with the "I told you so"s - I am posting this for anyone on this board who might be about to go through the same thing I have just done and for anyone else who wants to say "I told you so" for RPC2 players set to the "wrong" region, DVD Decrypt rips the region code off just fine and saves the decrypted disc to HD and then DVD Shrink or Nero Recode will write the "backup" so it can be read by any DVD player any DVD player that is that can read both NTSC and PAL formats - very important point - this was my trouble all along - my other DVD player plays all my DVD-R discs just fine DVD+R is a loser format. My experience was that my laptop wont read DVD+R and my home player wont play them either. The other player which cannot play PAL format can read both + and - so I wont be buying anymore DVD+R discs as the DVD-R discs can be read by anything notwithstanding the PAL/NTSC thing am off now to find a VCD ripper to make copies of my UK dvds for the non-PAL friendly dvd player ..... grix: there was no firmware patch for my Toshiba 5272 writer and no firmware patch for my Dell laptop reader (there is for the drive but not if its in a Dell laptop) - not gonna buy dvdregion free cos I don't need it for backing up (just gonna keep the shareware to install if i ever need it) all major problems solved grix: is NZ PAL or NTSC? Am now in a position to "lend" you some backups BTW for enquiring minds: yes I did have to take my hands off the keyboard everytime I did "" anyone got a software PAL to NTSC converter??
