Subject: geek heaven - do not read
well am sat here in an internet cafe type place and I've just installed netstumbler. My ethernet connection is unplugged cos I'm surfing an unsecured wifi network. Recently invested in a hand held wifi signal detector which means I can walk around town sniffing for hotspots before settling in for some serious wardriving.
MY NAME'S NICK AND I'M A SAD SAD MAN ....... BUT PROUD!!!

...it doesn't tell you whether the network you are detecting is secure or not but chances are probably even that its not or at least thats my experience so far.
The gadget itself is credit card sized with a search button and a signal strength indicator - its all you need then let netstumbler take over.
If you want instant gratification after buying go stand outside telecom and see your new toy light up like a xmas tree
