Subject: server flakiness
you all may have noticed that the server has been up and down a lot the last few days - it was because was the cpu fan was not working
it was running and would serve a few web pages before it overheated but the chip is still intact after 24 hours non-stop without a fan
the AMD K7 400MHz seems remarkably resilient without a fan!
