pci express motherboards backwards compatible? Can you put a non pci express graphics card (AGP into a pci express motherboard?

If you get a socket 939 board which is the latest AMD supporting chipset then its unlikely to have AGP support. I decided to go with socket 754 and the nforce3-250 chipset as its "old" technology and therefore half the price for comparable performance. You pay half as much but you don't get to upgrade. Why pay twice as much just for the option to upgrade later though? Doesn't make sense to me. BTW just checked out the latest intel boards and they dont have AGP ports either - think AGP is not supported in the latest chipsets. You might get some companies bolting it on somehow (in the same way that AGP nvidia 6800 graphics chipsets are native pci-express with built in AGP adaptors) but am pretty sure its not meant to be there. For general info: its not just about cpu clock speed anymore; its about data bandwidth from one part of the chipset to another and its about architecture. No point having a fast chip if it has to communicate through the eye of a needle.
