Hey Nix, before you start getting too deeply into the remote training business, how about tinkering with the server's wee permissions problem so I can get in and start the game up in your absence?

there is a script: start_cs_source in the home directory which will run cs source server - you can close your terminal and it wil not quit.

That's the server running, now how do I stop it?

At the shell prompt: 1. fast way at the prompt type: ps xu | grep s_ | grep -v grep | awk '{ print $2 }' | xargs kill -9 i will put this in a script called 'stop_cs_source' 2. medium way type ps -x and not the PIDs on the far left column relating to the processes you want to kill type kill -15 'pid' for each one 3. slow way: at the bash prompt type 'top' eg then type u - it will prompt for which user so type 'global' it will list all the processes owned by global all the srcds_ ones you need to kill so type 'k' it will now prompt for the process id (PID) to kill type in the PID listed on the first column relating to the srcds_ you want to kill In Counter Strike Server (the nice way): i believe if you have admin rights you can use the cs server console to stop the server? nix whats the commands?

dunno - I never do it that way but if you want admin rights on the server you need to send me your steam ID or remind me to get it from you when you're on my CS server once I've added you to the list of admins then you can admin once in game bring up the console and type bind "a" "admin" this only needs to be done once ever and it will always work then whenever you're on my server, just hit the "a" key to get the admin menus clearly you don't have to use the "a" key but I do so thats why I suggested it
