I made it to Berlin after a 13 hour all night drive from calais. Exhausting but traffic free so well worth the effort. For now I'm sleeping on a sofa but tomorrow I'm upgrading to my own cupboard. Off to switzerland and croatia next week, back to berlin on about 10th June by which time we'll have broadband in the flat (due to be connected today, at a cafe right now). Next stage is to decide whether I'm gonna be permenant enough here to get my own flat or temporary enough to just stick with the cupboard! I am allowed out of the cupboard during the day! No gaming for me for the forseeable future as got nothing to play with. We only have a shit desktop pc and a shit hot mac in the flat!

nice night drive... defo the way to go. sad to hear laptop still no go - is it in for warranty work? and having broadband but no machine when our disfunctional little tactical unit is about to jump to the battle zone .. thats depressing - but at least it's summer.

It's almost too depressing to write about. Lap top is completely f.u.c.k.e.d. Motherboard gone, no replacement to be found, "beyond economic repair" They're gonna send it back to me and refund the 240 quid warranty, my only consollation seeing as VISA paid it! Any legal eagles out there know if I have any claim against VISA? Someone told me it was up to them to sort me out but being in Berlin I can't even visit a citizens advice bureau. Evidently the hard drive is in working order so I can get my data off it. Whoopee. Lesson 1: Pay a bit more and buy from a company that ain't gonna disappear over night!

bummer! £240 is something i guess but what a disaster ... what was the make and model? when did you buy it and what was the original strory on the warranty?

yeah mex, walk us through it one more time - I know how you love to tell this story this is what you want for 1247 quid all included - you've got the 240 part (and I'll chip in the 7) now you just need the 1000 and you're there

oops my customisations didn't stick - I had upgraded to a nvidia 6800 but you also need a gig of ram but anyway - its the daddy!!

i concur get a vapouriser and enjoy the summer instead who needs a gfx card
